The reason I point this out is that the mask does come up off of your face quite a bit, and if you sleep on your side, it will get awkward because the edges will push against... To begin, this sleep mask is best suited for traveling (or for those who sleep on their backs). The reason I point this out is that the mask does come up off of your face quite a bit, and if you sleep on your side, it will get awkward because the edges will push against your pillow. That said, I bought this mask for two main reasons: the first is that I'll be traveling a lot more this year than usual. The second reason is that the sleep mask that I purchased previously has begun to fall apart. I'll rate it for both purposes. Being IDEAL for travel, the design of this mask makes it so that the mask does not touch your eyes and blocks out all light. I have purchased many of these kinds of masks before, and this one is the best one I have tried as far as blackout features and comfort on the eyes. The adjustable band makes it so that you can get the perfect fit. In fact, when I was traveling last, I ended up wearing my mask over my bulky headphones, but after adjusting the strap it was not an issue. The shape of the mask, and its "3D" design, make this mask by far the most comfortable and effective blackout mask I have used. For sleep: I tend to get migraines, so I keep blackout masks on hand at all times so that I can try to sleep it off in a cool, dark room. I also have this weird ability to "see" light while I'm asleep. When my husband wakes up in the middle of the night and gets on his phone, even though he is all the way on the other side of our huge bed (lol), I wake up. The light from his phone wakes me up. So when I truly want to get a good night's sleep, I sleep with a blackout sleep mask. Unfortunately, this mask is not ideal for that kind of use, at least not for me. I sleep on my back, but also on my side, and if I turn to one side, the mask pushes up against the pillow and really isn't comfortable. In summary, this mask is AMAZING for travel, or for people who sleep on their backs. I would recommend it all day long for those purposes, and this thing will live in its little bag that it arrived in, inside of my carry-on bag so that I always have it when I do travel. Given the blackout effectiveness and comfort (since the mask literally does not touch your eyes or even your lashes), this mask is well worth its cost.

Update: After trying the mask two nights I think the weighed style is not for me. It left redness on my cheeks and I could feel the sand inside moving when I switched sleeping positions. I do wish the non weighted mask came in the cotton material, but it doesn't, only the grey weighted mask is like that. I ordered the non weighted variety and it seems much better on my face, though it is a silky type material unfortunately. I really like this mask so far. Just trying it on, I love how my eyelashes don't brush against the mask and I feel no eye pressure while wearing it. I also love that there aren't metal clasps directly on the sides of the mask, so there is no irritation on my ears. It is thick too and blocks out all the light. I really like the feel of the grey mask as it feels like soft cotton instead of a silky material. It fits well and it much better designed than my Mzoo mask I have. This Facemoon mask is larger than the Mzoo and just fits better on my face and I love the deeper and wider eye sockets. I've added pictures below comparing the two. The FaceMoon is the grey and the Mzoo is the purple.

This mask in grey is a comfortable, soft fit, though next time, I’d buy it in black, as there’s a slight bit of light that is discernible through the grey color, as opposed to complete blockage in my black masks. I would never return to non-contoured/flat sleep masks, because the contoured eye cups are so much more natural feeling, and less restrictive. The nose bridge is also contoured, not just a flat piece of fabric, which for me, made a difference in a secure fit, even if I turned my head to the side. I can hear the beads falling as I move the mask, which was slightly annoying, but the other positive attributes of the mask outweighed that issue. Other weighted masks that I have are slightly heavier (not always a great feeling if I don’t need sinus area support), and the beads are denser, so not as much noise from bead movement. I hand washed the mask prior to use.

Let me say right away: I cannot sleep with a mask. I toss and turn too much. HOWEVER, I am taking a long, overnight trip and need something to help me sleep while I am sitting up all night on my choice of travel. This mask seems very promising! It is very comfortable -- the elastic strap does not tug or pull on my hair or ears. The eye socket area allows me to open my eyes -- but, there's no point in that: the mask truly shuts out light!! Even around my nose! The fabric is soft on my face and does not seem to get hot. I actually have high hopes now for some shut-eye now that I have this mask! IMO, I think it is a bit large for bed sleeping, but again, I do not like masks, so it is hard to comprehend how to wear this while lying down and/or turning in your sleep. But, for sitting up and trying to catch some zzzz's, I think it's going to definitely help!!

The contoured weighted eye sleep mask works well and it does block out 99.99% of bright light. I stuck my face right in front of a high-powered LED light and didn't see a peak of white light. The sleep mask fits well on my extra small size head and the deep eye sockets don't even rub on my long eyelashes. It's quite comfortable as the top and side cushions are filled with microbeads. The nose area is a squishy soft comfortable foam. The only area I feel needs improvement for such a comfortable mask is the adjustable strap. The strap material was a little itchy on the back of my head. In my opinion, the strap could be softer and at least one inch wide to match the quality of the mask itself. The strap thickness is about .75 inches. The mask measures about 9 3/8 x 4 x 0.8 inches and weighs about 103 grams. Overall, the contoured sleep mask has taken the top spot among my sleep masks but it would get five stars if the adjustable strap was of better quality but it's not a deal breaker.
